Decompression on a Rebreather

DIRrebreather Standards

There is no improvement in diving without Standards. They are born from the knowledge the easier and more systematized the procedures become, the less room there is for confusion, mistakes and unnecessary risks. The DIRrebreather standards are designed to help Rebreather divers in their future diving. They apply to:

  • The Equipment
  • The Procedures
  • The Team

Standardizing these three elements needed a huge teamwork. Based on the latest technologies, the most recent studies in physiology and the experience from the most active and experienced DIRrebreather team members, we set up complete standards about:

- Equipment Configuration.

- Necessary Rebreather features.

- Safe Diluent and Bail-out mixes.

- Team work and Diving Procedures.

- Efficient Decompression Strategies.

- Emergency Procedures.

- Proper Training Workshops.

DIR rebreather diving

These standards provide the rebreather divers with safe, simple, logical and successful procedures. They are fully consistent with DIR Open Circuit and Halcyon SCR Diving procedures, as taught in GUE Tech, Rebreather and Cave courses. They are based on the same guidelines for equipment and breathing mixtures selection and use, and they allow to safely mix Open Circuit and Rebreather divers within the same team, the same boat or the same cave system.

The DIRrebreather Standards are frequently updated and improved, depending on the results from real world testing. If you are a CCR Diver (Inspiration, Evolution, Megalodon, Sport KISS, Classic KISS, COPIS Meg, Ouroboros, Sentinel, PRISM Topaz, Dive-Rite O2ptima, Titan, Cis-Lunar, MKxx, Homebuilt, etc), you can also get the benefits of this work by becoming a member. Only Active Members receive the latest standards and updates.
